American White Pelicans, Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, UT

These White Pelicans are among 70 other bird species that nest at Utah's Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. Unlike Brown Pelicans, the White Pelicans don't dive for fish, but dip their pouched bill into the water to scoop them up, sometimes "scooching" the fish to each other. (The raised bump on the beak is only present during the breeding season.)
