Columbia River, WA

In 1792 a Boston merchant ship had just completed a trip around the world, unloaded its goods, and set sail again. A rough sea on the west coast deposited the small ship at the mouth of a huge river, which now bears it's name "Columbia." This accidental discovery lead to the exploration of the west for the new nation.
