Discover America Through Postcards

Second Finalist

Coney Island Park, NY

Coney's colorful "Wonder Wheel," spins thrillseekers while garish sidewalk stalls tempt passersby with balloons, food, ice cream and lemonade. The scene evokes the carefree days of youth and the hopeful days of an early 20th century. Once the "King of the Boardwalks," the park declined after World War II, but is now experiencing a renaissance as a treasured piece of Americana.
