PRIVACY POLICY (and COPPA information)

WriteLine LLC has created this statement to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy. This policy explains how we use information obtained from: visitors to Postcards from America websites, (postcardsfrom.com, postcardcafe.com, and pogeo.com); subscribers to our free email postcards; and registrants to our contests. All information entered during subscription or registration processes is protected by this privacy policy.

Website General Use

PostcardsFrom.com sometimes uses cookies to gather marketing data. These cookies do not recognize or capture the email address of visitors to our site, and they don't collect information that personally identifies visitors. To help us reach our goal of providing a website that meets the needs of our customers, we do monitor traffic patterns, analyze domain addresses and other site usage data and we may use cookies to help us model visitor paths through the site or display specific pages for visitors based on the browser or operating system being used. Some third party ad placement services may also use cookies to gather marketing data (see "Advertising" below).

Subscription and Registration Forms

In order to participate in the contests or to receive email postcards of the Postcards from America websites, subscribers and registrants are required to provide contact information such as name and email address. Any email we send includes instructions on how to unsubscribe.

During subscription or registration processes, Postcards from America sometimes requests demographic information (such as zip code, age, and personalization data) in order to tailor our service to the viewer's interests. We may use this information to describe the Postcards from America subscribers and registrants in general aggregate terms to potential advertisers and partners but do not divulge personally identifiable information.

Personally identifiable information collected and used at WriteLine's websites.

WriteLine uses personally identifiable information collected from persons 13 years or older who directly enter this information themselves when submitting subscription forms and registration forms on WriteLine's websites (including www.PostcardsFrom.com, www.PostcardCafe.com, and www.PoGeo.com). WriteLine does not indirectly collect personally identifiable information. For policies pertaining to persons under the age of 13, see paragraphs "2" and "3c" below.

        1) Changing your information or canceling your subscription can be done through your personal preferences panel, by following the link included on every email newsletter. If you did not keep any of your newsletters, you can click here to request an email containing a link to your preferences panel.

        2) Furthermore, in compliance with COPPA and CAN-SPAM laws, this site provides a "Black Listing" service whereby persons can enter their email address onto a list of addresses to which our newsletter system will never send, unless the owner of the email address explicitly requests us to remove this block.

        3) Users who subscribe to, or register for, certain activities (e.g. newsletters, or contests) agree that the personally identifiable information, entered on the registration and subscription forms, may be used in the following ways:

                a) Newsletter subscription forms: The information gathered from these forms is used for internal purposes, which may include, but is not limited to, analysis of audience participants, suggestions of content development and website improvement, and the serving of ads and promotions according to the selected interests of the subscriber;

                b) Contest entry forms: Contestants must be 13 years or older. Information gathered from contest entry forms may be used internally for the same purposes stated in paragraph "3a" (above); AND IN ADDITION the "name," "city," and "state" of contest winners may be published on the WriteLine websites and in other 3rd party publications as may arise; entrants, or their legal guardians, have the option to exclude their last name, city and state if they make their request known before first publication (i.e., website announcement) of their winning entry; the most prudent time for entrants to make this request is upon submission of their entry; entrants must read and sign the contest entry form and release statement if they wish to participate. PHOTO CONTEST ENTRANTS WHO ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 must have a parent or guardian read and sign the contest entry form and release statement if they wish to participate in the contest. Conditions for the disclosure of personally identifiable information of photo contestants is contained within that form.

                c) COPPA: In order to protect the privacy rights of children, NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS UNDER THE AGE OF 13 MUST USE THE UNDER AGE 13 FORM which collects only the minimal amount of information (email and age) necessary to send them email; the "under age 13" form does not collect a child's name nor ask their interests, as shown on the standard subscribe form. The link to the "under age 13" form appears on every subscribe page. WriteLine does not disclose personally identifiable information collected from subscribers to third parties, except when announcing contest winners as stated in paragraph "b" above. Parents of child subscribers should also read paragraph 1, "Changing your information or canceling your subscription" (above).

                Our COPPA policy relies on the subscriber's truthfulness in answering the required question "Age," and will ignore conflicting data which the subscriber may provide in the optional "Birthday Card:Birthdate" selection.

                d) More about COPPA: The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) went into effect in April 2000. It sets rules for anyone who runs websites for general audience sites and sites for kids under 13 years old. The rules deal with how a website can use personal information you might give to the site, such as your e-mail address or last name, so that you and your parents will know what information is being collected and how it might be used.

                This "Privacy Policy" statement tells you exactly how we deal with the personal information we collect on our sites. Paragraphs "2" and "3c" of the section "Personally identifiable information" (above) specifically address COPPA issues related to "under age 13" users.

                You can learn more about Children's Online Privacy Protection Act at http://www.coppa.org/coppa.htm.
