Fort McHenry, Baltimore MD

In the final days of the War of 1812 this star-shaped fort withstood a violent 25-hour bombardment from British warships bent on capturing Baltimore. Watching helplessly from a nearby prison ship, Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner.
